Taking Ownership – Chris Davis

Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis has made a name for himself in the major leagues. As a left-handed hitter, he has had tremendous success on the field, especially at bat, where he has earned the nickname, “Crush Davis.”

In 2007 Chris was drafted by the Texas Rangers where his professional career began.

“I had a great rookie year,” he remembers, “but through that success, I had kind of gotten off track.”

When Chris was traded to the Baltimore Orioles in 2011, he began to grow in his faith in Jesus Christ and in his ability to hit the ball out of the park. By 2013, he was leading the League in home runs for the year.

But something was hiding underneath all of his success and fame. Something that brought Chris to a point of great humility.
