Jaime Garcîa is a Mexican professional pitcher, first drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2005.

At the age of three, Jaime Garcîa began playing the game of baseball. Growing up as a left-handed pitcher in Mexico, he soon found that he was a level above the rest of his peers.

“Ever since I can remember, that’s all I’ve wanted to do,” he says.

At the age of 15, Jaime moved to Texas to attend high school and pursue his dream of baseball.  In 2005 Jaime was drafted into the Major Leagues by the St. Louis Cardinals, the team for which he still pitches as of 2016.

But his journey to the Major Leagues was not an easy one. When the Cardinals called Jaime up, they didn’t know that he had a severe injury in his pitching arm. Once they found out, they sent him home.

“I remember going back to my hotel and I completely broke down,” he remembers. “At 18 years old, I was a nobody if I didn’t have baseball.”

Through his whole life up to that point, Jaime had placed his identity in baseball. But at that moment God began to reveal Jaime’s true identity to him. And it began with a phone call from his grandmother.
